I LOHAS
In 2009 we made life-size animal sculptures for I LOHAS, the Coca-Cola Japan mineral water brand, out of collected empty I LOHAS bottles, using the brand's crushable plastic bottle. The theme was "Homeless Animals in the Concrete Jungle": endangered species pushed out of their habitats, among them a life-size African elephant mother and calf, which we built together with Japanese university students. The sculptures were placed on the streets of Tokyo, shown at environmental events including the Tokyo International Film Festival, and, for the 2009 International Year of the Gorilla, exhibited next to the live animals at Ueno Zoo. A short film with the elephants was made at the same time.
